Worthing unit request that the Neo-Natal blankets are 24 inches square. This works best with their incubator units.

Knitting for Prem Babies

February 2016

Over the past 4 months the ladies who knit have produced an incredible 20 blankets, 29 angel pockets, 6 robes, 2 jumpers, 24 cardigans, 41 hats, 19 pairs of bootees & 19 pairs of mittens putting to good use the wool that has been donated for this purpose. These will be sent onto the Neo-natal unit at East Surrey Hospital where the majority of young women have their babies in this region. These items are always appreciated by the families as it is still very difficult to find clothing suitable for these tiny early babies.

April 2016

Five of our members took a second delivery of small knitted items to the Neonatal Unit at East Surrey Hospital. Here they are handing them over to the team.

July 2016

Linda and Hazel visited the Neonatal Unit with three very full, large bags  of clothes for this unit. Again, they were very appreciative of your efforts in knitting these delightful items.

November 2016

Our fourth and final visit of the year to deliver more of your knitted items and incubator mats to the neonatal unit; 100 garments and 9 mats which were very much appreciated .Whilst all will be gifted as needed a few will be held to be given as extra gifts to the babies that are in the unit over Christmas. There was a very heart felt thanks from all at this unit.

July 2018

Whist every delivery has not been itemised here we do have an enthusiastic team  of ladies who are constantly knitting and producing exquisite items for the Neonatal unit. So much so, that 3 or 4 times a year a member going to East Surrey Hospital takes several bulging bags to restock this department. Sometimes we do mention this in the News column but these tiny garments are always hugely appreciated. If you would like to try your hand at this, patterns can be found on the links above and we do still have a supply of suitable yarn to get you started.

December 2021

Many of our members have remained busy throughout the various “lockdowns” and continued to knit. Once we were again able to get donations to neonatal units they were put to good use. Some of the recipients expressed their thanks in a recent card from East Surrey Hospital.
